Fight or flight…
You know, the story about the body’s response to threats like sabre tooth tiger attacks back in cave times.
Life is a lot different now, don’t you agree?
Sure, there are plenty of real life and death situations, but the average person doesn’t encounter them that often.
So why are our bodies in a continual state of fight-flight?
In today’s world, the threats are perceived.
Will you die if you miss the deadline at work?
No. But you still perceive the threat of getting a bad performance review, missing the promotion, or losing your job.
We do it to ourselves with the help of the messages we get from every direction.
You say you’re caught in a cycle of stress-related misery? How can you break free?
If it’s a perception issue, then changing the perception seems to be the key. Easier said than done.
But, it’s possible.
Change your perceptions and change your life.
I’ve been helping people manage their stressful perceptions for a long time.
The methods are relatively simple, but it helps to have someone to coach you beyond your go-to responses and practice healthier behaviors.
Learn techniques to be more mindful and present in your day-to-day life. Identify when you’re going to a dark place and use new tools to help you relax and breathe.
Perceptions can change with reframing. I can teach you how to train yourself to think differently and shift from negative reactions to hopeful and happy responses.
Step off the merry-go-round of stress.
It takes a little time and a commitment to practice, but it’s the best way to break the cycle and find peace.
Email to schedule a session, so you can get off the merry-go-round once and for all.
